The christian view of life after death is well known and arguable the most simple.
Christians believe in one God. Once the human body dies the soul ascends into heaven which is a paradise where there is no disease, poverty or war and all are equal and live eternally.
"He will render to each one according to his works: to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, he will give eternal life; but for those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury." - Romans 2:6-8 This states that God will only provided the promised afterlife to those who are of good will on Earth.
But, to enter heaven the soul must have been deemed by God as good in their live before. The gates of heaven are guarded by Saint Peter. The soul is judged and if deemed 'evil' then it is cast into Hell which is a place of eternal pain and punishment.
"But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulphur, which is the second death.” - Revelation 21:8 This states the punishment that those who are evil in their first life will be forced to endure once they are judged as evil by God.

Christians live by basic laws which are said to be set by God. The Ten Commandments are a list of ten laws which, if followed, keep the soul from evil. The Ten Commandment were given to Moses inscribed on stone Tablets (see picture) and state the fundamental laws "Thou shall not kill" - Exodus 20:13. The Beatitudes are 8 promises from Jesus (the son of God and yet God himself) which state what will be received if one lives a good life. “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth." - Matthew 5:5
Once again the words reveal Gods reward for those who are good.
